Colgate-Palmolive Skin Health Brands Are Leading the Way Towards Skin Protection, Ft. Joanna Zucker, CEO of CP Skin Health US, Podcast Summary
In this episode, Ekta sits with Joanna Zucker, the current chief executive officer of CP Skin Health US, a division of Colgate-Palmolive that consists of the prominent professional skincare brands: EltaMD, PCA skin, and Filorga.
Joanna has more than 25 years of experience leading brands and businesses in over 60 countries throughout the CPG and Retail industries and public and private equity-owned organizations. Before joining PCA, she served as vice president of PetSmart’s Pet Services division and served 18 years as a global business/marketing leader at Procter & Gamble.
Here is what she has to say about skincare brands:
“It starts with defining who your consumer is, who your customers are, and what your brand purpose is. we are professional skincare brands, we are serving medical doctors, licensed estheticians, and pharmacists who have degrees and expertise in skincare” (Zucker).
“You need true science to transform the skin to not just topically hydrate skin but to truly transform the health of the skin. We’re fortunate that due to our positioning, what we’re delivering, and our value equation, we can formulate the best ingredients with the best delivery mechanism to get those ingredients to where they need to be in the skin.” (Zucker).
“Everything we do is scientifically backed both in vitro research, and clinical research to prove the transformation and the change it makes to the skin because that’s what our customers expect” (Zucker).
“It’s a fine line with consumers because they want content, but you also need to dial it down so that it’s not only digestible but understandable at the same time” (Zucker).
“Know your consumer, know your propriety, and have a point of difference you can build a business off of” (Zucker).
“Our innovation is driven by proven efficacious ingredients, combination ingredients, and mechanism of delivery so that we can provide the best transformation of skin to whatever skin concern you have” (Zucker).
Strong leadership, analytical, and innovative talents have enabled Joanna to grasp all facets of corporate management, from innovation and new business development to short- and long-term growth strategies, annual marketing, sales plans, and P&L management.
Joanna worked overseas in Brussels, Belgium, and spent nine years in global leadership roles at Procter & Gamble; as a result, she is well-versed in market assessments, consumer research and insights, and GTM playbooks to optimize the business’s ability in each distinct area.
