Danielle Frank, National Trainer for Olaplex, Podcast Summary
This week Ekta talks to Danielle Frank, National Trainer for Olaplex. Danielle is a trained hairdresser and professional working at Olaplex. She reminisces on her start in the hair industry in her late 30’s, but touches upon how she always wanted to be a hairdresser and begged to go to cosmetology school since childhood. After she had her last child, she went to a beauty school and fell in love with the profession.
“I spent two years shadowing brilliant artists who had a very distinct eye, trained by some of the best and were in publications all over the place. It was really great because I got a real understanding of the science of it, the mechanics of it, it’s a lot more than you would think…They taught us to discern, What was the purpose? What was the chemistry? Does it work with hair?” (Frank).
Danielle remembers when Olaplex came out and how it was such an innovative technology that shocked the industry, and how she started seeing a difference in not only her own hair, but her clients were noticing a change in theirs as well.
“This company comes out, Olaplex. I heard the buzz about it on hairdresser forums for a while, it was this big enigma…I noticed a lot of hairdressers were not using it properly. Now, we get excited as hairdressers, when something new comes out. It’s innovative and honestly in the hairdressing world, I don’t think there’s been an innovation like this since probably perms that didn’t need to be attached to a machine. It was so innovative.” (Frank).
