David Chung, Founder of FARMACY Creates a Hub for Beauty Entrepreneurs to Formulate Their Vision (iLABS), Podcast Summary
In this episode, Ekta sits down with David Chung, Founder of FARMACY, to discuss the brand’s new project, iLABS, which promotes entrepreneurs who want to bring their brand ideas to the forefront of skincare. David is just the role model they need to get them where they want to be.
“In iLABS, “I” stands for the innovation that we do in manufacturing…So, what I like to do when someone is starting a brand and launching a new brand is I love to help them to get them off the ground, do what needs to be done and help them create products as well and that’s the goal.” (Chung).
David has been in the beauty world for a long time and has vast years of knowledge in skincare and cosmetics and how to make a brand stand out in a retail market that focuses on luxury-based products.
“I started with retail as a merchant. I owned a retail store called Cosmetic Worlds on the Westcoast. I had 7 stores which were very high-end luxury skincare and cosmetic stores, I think before Sephora and Ulta existed.” (Chung).
But what David and the FARMACY brand promote is most important is their drive to not only innovate their product ingredients but make sure to be consistent in their science-based background and efficacy!
“The clean beauty industry was not as it is today. It was all a stage, and we want to create a formulation that has more than a thousand “No-No List” ingredients that we don’t want to carry in our formula. But at the same time, we want to make sure that this is a science driven formula with efficacy behind it.” (Chung).
