This week Ekta talks to David Delport, Global Brand Ambassador of REN Clean Skincare. David has been in the beauty industry for several years as a Makeup Artist doing travel shows but wanted to work with a brand that felt like a home away from home, and for him, REN Skincare was precisely that!

“For me, when I discovered REN, it was like finding my home, my tribe, my vibe of people. I was a Makeup Artist for many years, and I have been doing road shows and events. But, while I loved the creativity of makeup, I wasn’t quite finding my family or purpose within it all.” (Delport).

But his relationship with REN began at a very young age as he was an up-and-coming artist at the time, speaking to them about the brand’s purpose.

“I’ve worked in the industry since I was 15, and I met up with the founders of REN many years ago. Just chatting to them about what they believed in and this new wave of creating cosmetics that no one else had come up with.” (Delport).

From there, David’s love for REN grew and allowed him to work with other artists that believe in the idea of clean beauty and understanding the formulation of products.

“I left the makeup world behind me, and I was a national artist for brands like NARS, Laura Mercier, and Trish McAvoy. Then, I started working for REN, and I felt almost like an evangelist going door to door (or store to store) and sharing this concept around bioactive ingredients and clean beauty.
Just a different way to deliver results.” (Delport).

David believes in REN’s mission after 15 years of success in promoting clean beauty and the benefits of skincare to create innovative products that not only give positive results but a memorable line for consumers to gravitate. He discusses how REN has changed how he views makeup as something that promotes the goal of great skin but keeps the idea of skin health on the front of the brand.

“When I was working with people like Laura Mercier, and I was very fortunate to get to work with her, it was all about the canvas and perfecting the skin before you pick up the foundation brush or concealer brush. So, as an artist, I was always obsessed with getting the skin perfect before the makeup. To makeup brands that try to do skincare, they don’t always get it right, so when I discovered what REN could do for skin alone before I even started working with makeup. For me, that’s what sold it for me.” (Delport).
