Dr. Barbara Paldus, PhD of CODEX Beauty Labs, Podcast Summary
This week Ekta talks to Dr. Barbara Paldus, Ph.D. of CODEX Beauty Labs, to discuss her fantastic brand that is entirely scientific based as Dr. Barabara’s microbiology background produces this extraordinary brand’s results. She was always in favor of the sciences and understanding how things are and why a line of work in experimentation was perfect for her.
“So, I became a scientist, because my dad allowed me to be curious and he supported me at time (I’m 51) where women were really not supposed to be geeks. And he taught me to question everything, gather data, and then try to understand what it all meant. So sometime in the process I would discover new stuff which was always incredibly exciting!” (Paldus).
Dr. Paldus’s journey into skincare and beauty almost had a rocky start; with her background in science, she wanted to show clients the wonders of accurate measurements and data of their and how CODEX products work on the skin. But unfortunately, she saw that many customers and brand founders did not understand the science behind skincare products.
“So originally, you know, my vision for CODEX was really just to find a brand for clinically proven products. But my vision was somewhat derailed by learning more about the beauty industry and being told by a lot of marketing experts that we were doing it all wrong! And having come from really science, often times (Ekta) I spoke a very different language to people in the industry and half the time no one understood why I even wanted to measure anything. So, to some extent it felt that we had entered the Matrix!” (Paldus)
From then on, Dr. Paldus decided that CODEX would become the change the skincare industry needed to understand the importance of science in beauty!
“And next year we’re launching OGC I embrace the FDA in fact I think that the FDA has a very important purpose to serve. So, our present and future mission now is to create a movement where customers can really understand their skin with real science and real measurements in the industry with actionable numbers, I’m done with storytelling!” (Paldus).
