Finding Solutions Rather Than False Hope for Hair Loss Ft. Camille Barreto, Founder of ME Cosmetics, Podcast Summary
In this episode, Ekta sits with Camille Barreto, Founder of ME Cosmetics, and beauty category creator, to discuss her struggle with thinning hair over the past two decades. Camille, fully cognizant of the fact that more than half of all women experience hair loss and deeply committed to assisting women in overcoming their own beauty difficulties, set out to create a cosmetic remedy that would be genuinely revolutionary. The team at ME Cosmetics develops safe, dermatologist and consumer-tested cosmetic products that are based on “HRIPT and full-blown independent consumer studies” (Barreto).
“It’s hard for the average person to discern between what is valid in therapeutics and what isn’t. Whatever we do, we stand by what we do, and everything has been tested. Our claims have all been substantiated because this community needs that, they deserve that” (Barreto).
Camille and her team devised a plan where there would be three essential parts to the specific product. First, through the application delivery system — how one applies the product onto one’s head. Second, the size of the compact — how big the brush is with the given pan. Lastly, the formulation — the less amount of product applied, the less amount of irritation.
“Acknowledging and respecting the fact that people really do experience a lot of distress and so for us, that really went to the mission of acknowledging, it’s ok to be self-conscious. Trust me, we all are, and if people are telling you they’re not, good on them, but probably most of them are” (Barreto).
In her closing statement, she announced, “those of you who are suffering, you’re not alone. You don’t have to suffer in silence. Come find us. We’re all here for you” (Barreto).
