Ingredients to Look for in Winter Skincare
These are the winter wonderland of ingredients for this season’s skincare
- Hyaluronic Acid
You’ve heard about it before and you’re hearing about it again now (and it’s all within reason). Hyaluronic acid is a fantastic agent because of its ability to draw moisture into the skin and not to simply rest on top. This is why it is often recommended to apply hyaluronic acid before you apply moisturizers. This acid is said to be able to bind 1,000 times its weight in water, making it an optimal hydrator for the skin– and a must add to your winter skincare.
- Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is a staple exfoliator. Dead skin cells can start to accumulate in very dry conditions, especially ones that come with notably cold temperatures. This acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and can go to work for you this winter, sloshing away dead skin and giving you a glow that shines through this season.
- Ceramides
Also excellent for dry skin, ceramides are super helpful for skin in a dry condition because they are fats. When you come in from a freezing-cold day, and start working through your skincare routine, you might want your last step to be applying a thick and cozy layer of a heavier cream. Finding one with a ceramide is key!
- SPF
That’s right. It’s just as important to apply sunscreen in the Winter as it is in the summer months. Add some sun protection after you finish moisturizing your skin and gift yourself a shield to your skin.
