This Fragrance Friday, Ekta sits down with Itika Oldwine-Grimble, Founder of OldVine Fragrance, to discuss the impact of this revolutionary fragrance line as it is the first global luxury fragrance brand launched by a Black female floral designer! It is exciting to see such diversity in the fragrance field, and the innovation of OldVine using bespoke products developed and distributed exclusively by Firmenich.

“My experience in the floral world started in about 2014. I was in a small but coveted floral studio in LA (after moving from Chicago) called Eric Buterbaugh and Eric’s studio was in the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills where he was the in-house florist. And I started on in the back office, so I was the marketer for his company I had a small marketing company myself and I took on clients and he was one of those clients. And it wasn’t until I started working inside his store (because they asked me to come on full-time) that I really got a chance to see as an insider what the world of florals and creating these beautiful arrangements we see on Instagram or at weddings was about!” (Oldwine-Grimble).

Her experience with Eric Buterbaugh pushed Itika’s passion for the floral and fragrance world. She loved the idea of beautiful scents and aesthetics, and with her incredible marketing skills, she brought us the worldwide brand we know today, OldVine Fragrance!

“I created my own stamp on the floral world here in LA when I started my own company OldVine Florals. We opened in 2017 and it wasn’t until about 2020 (literally the start of the pandemic) that we decided to create a fragrance to go with our motif. Our beautiful florals are great and gorgeous and all-around LA, but we really can’t send them outside of Los Anglos County because it is a little difficult. So, we wanted to create something that we could send anywhere in the world that represented what we believe is the most beautiful flowers, but you can get them in a bottle as a fragrance or candle.” (Oldwine-Grimble).
