In this episode, Ekta sits with April Uchitel, Co-Founder of The Board, to discuss her transition from fashion expert to CEO and to revolutionize commercial networks’ meaning and value.
“I kind of accidentally became the CEO of Violet Gray. I had known Cassandra Gray (founder of Violet Gray), and I first talked to her about a project she was doing with Amazon and as I had just built a marketplace for Spring. And then she basically said that she’d rather hand me the keys. So, I kind of inherited Violet Grey when it was in a bit of a mess.” (Uchitel).
Through her experience of reconstructing Violet Grey, she saw the importance of community for her vision of sharing resources, marketing, and more. It was from this dream The Board was born!
“Now I have The Board, which I co-founded about a year and a half ago, with Anita Gatto, who came from experiential retail just in this space we’ve all seen through the pandemic, of kind of, the big reckoning, of what we want to do, how we want to do it, and this real sense of community we’re all really seeking.” (Uchitel).
Together April and Anita have formulated not only a systematic community of experienced professionals but are reevaluating consumer and brand relationship standards by personal testing of products!
“We’re really a marketplace of people, lack of a better analogy, which is a reference to the world I tried to build at Spring. And then equally the code of value products tested, and so everything the customer was being presented with had been approved by the Violet Grey Team!” (Uchitel).
